June 29, 2013 - Jonathan Bailey, flute

Concert Review
On June 29th a large and appreciative audience enjoyed a ravishing concert of 1930s music for flute and piano. Jonathan Bailey (flute) and Donald Pistolesi (piano) complemented each other beautifully in a fascinating program of music including works by little-known composers such as Piston and Bozza, as well as more established pieces from Elgar, Ravel and Vaughan Williams. We look forward eagerly to the next collaboration between these two superb players.

June 22, 2013 - Panecorde Trio

Concert Review
Many thanks to the Panecorde Trio (Nadia Sparrow flute, Perri Lo piano and Dominic Painchaud cello) for a superb concert last Saturday. The audience was enchanted by the sensitive musicianship and fine ensemble playing of these talented young performers. Their final piece, the Trio by Nikolai Kasputin, had our feet tapping and got us all in the mood for the upcoming Montreal Jazz Festival!
Congratulations, Trio Panecorde, and we look forward to inviting you back to L'Oasis Musicale at Christ Church Cathedral.

June 15, 2013 - Patrick Wedd, organ

Concert Review
L'Oasis Musicale would like to say a huge thank you to Patrick Wedd for his wonderful organ recital last Saturday. For his large and appreciative audience, Patrick selected a repertoire featuring a wide range of styles and moods: from the dense, contrapuntal fugue-writing of JS Bach's 'Dorian' Toccata and Fugue; through the whimsical Toccatina for Flutes by Pietro Yon; to the jubilant and uplifting Carillon de Westminster by Vierne. Congratulations Patrick, and many thanks again!

Don't miss Patrick Wedd's recital 'Toccatas and Carillons' on Saturday June 15 at 4.30pm at Christ Church Cathedral. The music spans over 400 years, from Frescobaldi's Toccata per L'Elevatione first published in 1635, to Roderick Elms' Carillon Festivo, composed at the turn of the 21st century.
Patrick Wedd is one of the leading organists of his generation, and has presented cycles of the complete organ works of Olivier Messiaen and Jehan Alain.
