Concert Review
A huge thank you goes to the trio of very talented young musicians from Chamber Music Without Borders who presented a wonderful L’Oasis Musicale concert last Saturday. Ellen Kogut violin and Philip Chiu piano gave a mesmerizing interpretation of Shostakovich’s Sonata for violin opus 134, showing a huge expressive range in their playing, from the searingly percussive to the hauntingly barren. Kunal Lahiry also gave a very mature performance of Chopin’s piano sonata No 2 in bflat minor opus 135 evoking the sombre bleakness of the funeral march and also the sparkling virtuosity of the presto finale. Bravo, Chamber Music Without Borders, and we eagerly await your next visit to L’Oasis Musicale!
